This fall we were inspired by a client’s vision for their corporate award show gala to create a centerpiece using geometric gold spheres filled with candles and fresh flowers.  These spheres had to be flawless – clean lines, quality finishing and the perfect shade of gold.  It was to be the perfect balance of an industrial feel that would would also draw in the elegance and beauty of the venue.

As a full service Event Management company, we love collaborating with creative clients who bring great ideas like this to the table, and it’s our job to bring their vision to life.

Over the years we have learned that it’s often the simple ideas that keep you on your toes.

After reaching out to our vast network we realized we had a bit of an issue to resolve…..the 25 spheres we required didn’t exist anywhere. We only had one option – roll up our sleeves and create the spheres ourselves.

We found a few great DIY tutorials, but they involved either vinyl tubing and hot glue which wouldn’t work for this high end gala, or supplies like embroidery hoops which were limited in sizes and required screws that would not allow for clean lines.

This was going to be a bit more challenging than we had initially thought.

Thankfully we have a team with many hidden talents, and our Business Manager Chris worked with his brother Dan to design a stellar prototype that the client loved!

This was it – the sphere we had envisioned.  Now, we just needed 24 more of them…

We hand cut 125 pieces of steel banding, before assembling, drilling and individually fastening each rivet to achieve the handcrafted & eye catching design.

375 feet of metal banding hand-cut into 3′ sections…

4 cans of gold spray paint…

Multiple broken drill bits and over 250 hand set rivets…

Still more spray paint…

375 feet of steel banding, 250 rivets, 6 blisters, 4 cans of spray paint, and several drill bits later… we had these beautiful decorative spheres to present to the client.

We were so proud to place these amazing & unique centerpieces. For their debut, Celebrate The Moment Designs added the finishing touches with white florals and candles.

Classy Centerpieces Gold Sphere

What we love the most is how versatile these centerpieces are. The options are limitless – from creative florals to multi-tiered candles to rustic wood accent pieces. What was initially viewed as a challenge has resulted in a unique décor inventory which will definitely be a go-to for our on trend clients who want a one of a kind design.
